Also if you have sensitive skin wash your clothing before you wear it!! I have gotten terrible rashes/hives from the 'finishing' chemicals and had to return my brooks brothers 'no iron' shirts as they irritated my eczema. The salesperson said 'oh yea, that happens to some people' like...WHAT???

That’s wild. This is exactly what the book is about. I wonder what the composition of the shirts was — as Alden says in the book, polyester (plastic) requires more processing to make dyes stick and so forth

Most of them use formaldehyde(!!!) so yea, I can see why that would irritate skin!

Thank you for the feedback here. As you note I only go into so much detail in a story of this length but I would hate for the takeaway from my edit of her words to be that Alden doesn’t go into the questions you raise because she very much does in the book. I found it to be a terrifically detailed read and I hope a lot of people buy it!
