Jenna has the definite approach of someone who spent years working their way through the ranks before being the boss and understands how to set limits with badly behaving coworkers and to not get embroiled in petty power struggles.

I watched the first episode and promptly fell behind BUT Amy how could you not mention the AUDACITY of two of the women not only to go into Jenna's closet but to put on her clothing (one of them wore the top backwards to boot)? Who does that? And Jenna was even a good sport despite her terror that the blouse was fragile (and they promptly managed to get the fabric caught and potentially snagged).

I hate to quote Kelly Bensimon, but: "I'm up here, you're down there". The other women might be known within their circles, but not like Jenna (or as they said repeatedly the first episode: Jenna Lyons).

I also thought that was in extremely poor form (as I clutch my pearls). I wonder if production encourages them to behave badly for the camera or whether they get there all on their own.

Poor Erin seemed like she planned her menu on TikTok. Caviar and Shakshuka. All she was missing was cottage cheese ice cream and Basque cheesecake.

Thanks for the great writing and Jenna worship! I have coveted that apartment since I saw it several years ago. And, finally, a housewife that can rise above the petty, nonsensical claims. Carole Radziwill made a few inroads on this, but she did not have Jenna’s CEO-like /“yeah well you’re not in charge” energy.

Great piece Amy. For a series centered on drama, Jenna is bringing very little of it — but the other women seem hellbent on delivering it anyway. Interested in seeing how this all plays out over the course of the season and the all important reunion episodes where every perceived slight gets the microscopic attention it doesn’t deserve. We don’t go to the franchise for reasonable, well-adjusted human beings and yet Jenna Lyons is a breath of fresh air. Her character and style bona fides really show up the other women without trying.

Amy, spot on! Jenna is captivating and the other women can't help but admire her. The product of their often bad behavior. She is such a refreshing change of pace. Jenna is logical, cool, quirky and loaded-we have Never seen a housewife quite like her.

I stopped watching the show years ago after the Kelly Bensimon "satchels of gold" debacle. This return is truly back to the roots. As someone who's lived in NYC for decades, I feel like they find the most basic bit**es possible to cast for this show. They are all so...gauche. Not very NY at all (which is much more subtle than any of these people could fathom). Jenna Lyons is a total fish out of water, and I love it.

Loving Jenna, but truly not feeling the rest of the cast...a little too basic for my tastes...Especially Erin.

I’ve never watched any of the Real Housewives but I just watched the first episode of RHONY solely because of Jenna and I’m not disappointed! Will for sure watch the whole season because I love her!

Having just seen episode 4, I feel like we’re now starting to get a better handle on the women, and their backstories are making them more likeable and relatable except Jessel. Jenna hit the nail on the head when she said Jessel didn’t have a mean bone in her body but that she tries too hard. Jessel’s husband tried to have a convo with her about her tone and she went straight to I’m a bitch. Girl has a self-awareness problem. Style wise I love what Jenna is giving — we’re seeing a strong sense of self through her choices. The other women wear clothes but haven’t quite matured into having their own style. Ubah is occasionally stunning, case in point: gold dress to Friendsgiving. Vogue alum and Amazon fashion lead (an oxymoron if ever there was one) Sally Singer is in the house next episode.
