Hurray for colour! Before stealth wealth, there was coastal grandmother. So it's really been several years of oatmeal mush. Bring on the rainbow!

I wonder if the colors or lack of color is because of what is going on with the world. Are colors neutral because it is safe in the view of the wearer. Safe because it is neither right nor left, certainly not the middle of the road. No brights because we are not in happy, profitable, or successful. Are neutrals making a statement because they make no statement at all? They blend in. Neutral and a pair of jeans, simple and classic and expensive right now. I also see changes, uncertainty, and a real sense of wanting lasting , quality clothing, shoes whatever. Maybe in the back of our minds we subconsciously know that things are going to get rough, really rough and we best invest in ourselves, good long lasting clothing, cars, home, and learning to knit or sew might not be a bad idea.

By the way I have always loved a good classic loafer shoe. My classic, why are they all $200+ and who wants a thick sole? That will quickly be outdated.

I liked the plaid and the color scheme of Taylor's red carpet look, but I did not like the fit. It looked like if she so much as sneezed one or both of her boobs would pop out!

God I hope so

Well I am thankful for a move away from “quiet luxury”….nothing more boring for me than signaling wealth as your fashion strategy.

Wow I had not seen that Cut piece. How extraordinary that a brand attracts in hordes customers that a brand disapproves of. There’s something very broken there.

Does anyone else think that a description of a garment that includes the word "gaping" is a red flag? *see link to Pg 6 article about the "revenge"(?) dress.

Fabulous piece! Re. Kamala Harris — why Dior?? It was a perfectly ordinary generic suit that would retail for, what, $5,000? No American brands make boring suits? HER STYLIST IS TOO FANCY!!

I must correct this statement. I see that VP Harris actually wore this Dior suit-- the 30 Montaigne Bar Jacket with pants-- back in 2021 on a visit to France (she's photographed in it while meeting with Macron.) So that purchase presumably predated her assistance by stylist Leslie Fremar, and is appropriate considering the situation. Nevertheless, I really do hope she stops with the expensive European stuff.

I agree. I find it inexcusable that she cannot wear American brands. We have millions of people employed in the US garment industry, and she is, for whatever reason, not interested in supporting them. Also, I wish her clothes fit her better.

She did just wear a gown by an African American designer to an event — LaQuan Smith — so perhaps there will be an American focus moving forward.

The bit about brown being reclaimed as luxury reminded me of another Succession character, Kendall Roy, with the infamous brown tux that Jeremy Strong either wore IRL or copied very closely for the Emmys that one year. Even so, I’m glad to see some color come back into the canon - one can only be griege for so long.
