The chicken story is based on writer Mira Ptacin’s hen Sasha! How do I know this? Mira is a friend and my book doula! SATC/AJLT writer Elisa Zuritsky knows Mira and got the story from her. And Mira’s hen Sasha goes up the stairs on her own, lays eggs in her house in Maine, and goes on about her hen life. 😄🐓

Oh my god, what a wonderful factoid! Thank you for sharing. It's too bad they didn't give Aidan's hen the same name but maybe her name will be revealed before the season ends LOL.

We’ve been waiting for the episode to come out - Sasha is a Peaks Island rock star! Also, shameless plug for Mira’s memoir “Poor Your Soul”. It’s so so good. Loving your AJLT recaps, Amy!

I think a big part of why I'm not excited by the fashion on AJLT is because I was so used to the Patricia Fields fashion of SATC, which was just always incredible — sure, sometimes it was ugly, but it was never not fun to look at. I wonder if I'd feel differently about the fashion on AJLT if SATC had never existed. Hard to look at it without comparing. (Although, tbh, I do think that most of the fashion on AJLT is pretty bad, aside from Seema's sequined outfit and Carrie's vintage sweatshirts.)

Also, I had a really hard time with the everlasting mourning of Big followed by "was he a mistake?" There was no lead up to that - it was just one extreme to another, and it felt abrupt and out of place. Sure, it's a valid question, but it seemed really forced after watching Carrie express this deep love for Big for basically the entirety of SATC and most of AJLT. (To be clear: I DO understand why she'd ask that, but ... a week with Aidan is enough to make her question it all? Doesn't some of it just have to do with youth, experience, etc?)

To your point about the old days of Patricia Fields (100 percent agree, first of all), and just to add that there was some "reality" to what they wore, that is absent most of the time in AJLT, which has just gone Full Costume. In SATC, it was really only Carrie who wore the sort of "wild outfits" which was a character trait referred to by the characters themselves. The other gals had great style and you could imagine seeing them on the street wearing whatever it was, as real people. Everyone has just become completely over-styled and consequently it has lost a lot of the impact that the clothes used to have, in both character development and storytelling overall. I need them to dial it down like 10 points, on a scale of TEN. You know?

Totally agree! FULL COSTUME is the best way to put it. It doesn't feel natural, even though it's less "crazy."

I agree with a lot of the criticisms of AJLT but I’m also here for when the series hits it’s high marks, and when it toys with depth. The scene with: was Big a big mistake got me. I also miss Pat Field’s styling and would have loved to see her take on the SATC characters as they got older and how their style evolved. We have one scene with Kim Catrall to look forward to. I hope we get a third season where we get to see less of Che and more of Naya, Seema and Anthony. Give Anthony his own show. He steals every scene he is in.

Thank you kindly for writing this particular thread. Because this excuses me from having to watch this clubby expression, freeing me to play with the cats and see Barbie and Oppenheimer simultaneously.

I’m almost scared to say (write?) this out loud, but why do I feel like there is no 3rd season and the writers are setting this up for Carrie moving to VA and leaving NYC behind and that’s how this all ends. The new chapter is that she goes to live the life she could have had with Aiden. Literally living in fear of this ending.

oof. i can’t imagine anyone being happy with carrie leaving nyc!!! including sjp

I was curious about the coat after reading this. She is not only wearing it open, but also has gloves on! And she and Miranda are walking in front of what I think is a church with bright green grass. i don’t live in NYC, but I used to live in the midwest and there is NO grass that green in March. Just more suspension of belief with this show.

Reading about this show is so much better than having to watch it. Thank you!

I am NOT watching it and DO not enjoy hearing about it. They DONOT look nice as compared to my colleagues at even older ages.

Seema looked so fabulous (and slightly overdressed) at the end scene dinner, I thought we were about to pivot to a reveal that she wasn't actually meeting the SATC girlies but instead going on a date, or a drink with a single gal pal, lol. The nice, neat actual ending was okay too though, I guess!
