On Monday, May 6, Lauren Sánchez will appear at the Met Gala for the first time, an insider confirms to Back Row.
The insider said that Anna Wintour is personally helping Sánchez with selecting her dress, and that she was choosing between custom looks by Oscar de la Renta and two other designers. As I reported in ANNA: The Biography, Anna doesn’t always get personally involved in what guests wear, but she knows Sánchez has “poor taste,” the insider said.

Sánchez’s appearance at this year’s event, which was earlier reported by Page Six, is notable for several reasons. One, it will give her legitimacy in the fashion world that she hasn’t yet attained. Two, it will add buzz to an event that had been pretty controversy-free thus far. And three, it shows how Anna holds onto and grows her power — by wooing certain people into her circle.
As far as Met Gala personalities go, Sánchez is a bit like her friend Kim Kardashian.
