Thank you for this enlightening story and for being an actual truth-seeking, fact-digging journalist, Amy!! I've made Amazon purchases from Substack links in the past, but thanks to Bezos' latest shenanigans at the Washington Post I'm vowing to use other sources whenever feasible.
Thank you, Tracy -- it makes me very nervous to see what's happening at WaPo right now... partly because I fear they'll just lose more subscribers which will adversely impact the journalists and editors there who are doing good, important work! At the same time, it's easy to understand consumer disgust -- like, Lauren Sanchez and Katy Perry are about to blast into space for fun. Something is going to have to give.
I saw the Kelly inspired bags and really thought about buying one. Then I realized I recently bought a purse that is working just fine. It is more utilitarian and not leather, but given the dog fur battle that is constant, nowhere to show off my recent purse, and it was a want, not need I did not purchase it! Yeah me.
Thank you for writing this! It's fascinating and also reminds me that Meta closed my Instagram account because I posted one picture of a few fragrances and called them 'Baccarat Rogue dupes'. I tried for over a year to get the account back and they wouldn't let me, claiming copyright infringement. It's crazy how these tech companies push down content about dupes but continue to sell and promote them in their own ways.
Yes! Apparently they said that LVMH filed a compliant but who knows if that’s true. I’ve been a social media manager for a decade, with Meta contacts and even they couldn’t get the account back. Truly wild!

I always like to wait a full day before buying something I think I want. Then I know if I really want it. (Often, I don't.)
I wait longer 3 to 5 days. I am trying to avoid “pretty I want it now!” Inclination.

That's outrageous!

This was fascinating (and enraging!)!
