What an insightful interview! His assessment of how department stores are run today is spot on. Richard Baker bought Hudson's Bay in Canada for its real estate. Just this year, Hudson's Bay closed after 350 YEARS in business. It's no longer about retail. It's no longer about valuing clothing for quality and craftsmanship. It's all about money, shareholder value, churn 'n burn. Incredibly sad that this is where we are now.
