Maybe hidden away in one of those beastly bags?

I don’t get who Gucci’s target audience even is at this point.

I wasn’t an Alessandro fan but he definitely had a point of view and a real customer in mind. The last couple Gucci shows just feel like him and Tom Ford’s greatest hits mixed with whatever has worked for other brands lately.

Hmm good point. They strike me as targeting the aspirational luxury shopper given their bag prices and how many shoes they sell, but beyond that maybe it’s just anyone with enough money

I still regret I didn't buy a Jackie bag in the Tom Ford era, it would have been 'vintage' by now, lol.

I have a clear picture of Tom Ford's Gucci (I grew up in the 90s so highly biased here...), of Michele's Gucci and even Frida Giannini's Gucci reminds me of florals and the bamboo bag. By now, I think it's reasonable to say we should get a sense of what De Sarno's Gucci is. Should it be play-it-safe, 'maybe mix some neutrals with acid colours to make it less dull'? There were some nice looks in the show - the long dresses in the end were something. But it's not enough. Gucci being Gucci needs a very clear image, like Tom and Alessandro created. I feel sorry for De Sarno. Maybe he's being constricted, maybe he's afraid of trying or maybe he wasn't the right choice after all. On the flip side, I live in London and saw people waiting in line outside Gucci store on Bond street last Saturday, so maybe consumers are seeing something that critics are missing... Next quarter's result will tell!

Sabato worked at Valentino under Pierpaolo which was just fab. It was nice to see him work with more colors. I believe that he is talented and that taking this brand in a new direction is very hard, probably driven by a lot of corporate concerns and opinions. I would guess that it's like how Hearst and Conde Nast hire utterly brilliant, creative people, and then reduce them to, like, writing and editing SEO content.

Love big/huge bags but have got 2 big/huge ones from Acne Studios at last 2 yrs ago and 1 last yr from Yamamoto. 12cm or above platform high heel girl like me think those flat shoes look good and comfortable on anyone who r confident w. their height. Donot particularly favor any cloth...

Am I being too literal by thinking that all the contradictions you described match the contrasts intended in the show notes? I admit, that does feel a bit like a gross oversimplification.

Why do nineteen and twenty year olds have to stay away from booze in London? UK drinking age is eighteen. Sixteen if accompanied by an adult.

Good Q. Because it's considered inappropriate for them to be seen on social media with booze.
